Sun Valley to Sawtooth Mountains

To start our day, we ordered a bunch of breakfast wraps from Wrap City which was right next to our hotel. At first I was quite ecstatic to try them, however after taking a few bites I was very underwhelmed. The smell of the breakfast wraps even started making me feel nauseous in the car. Not too far off from Sun Valley, we passed a sign that warned us of a high chance of wild fires. A few moments later we even saw dark smoke over a section of the forest. There wasn't much being done about the fire, but it was definitely being watched. To many people they are probably like WTF, however wild fires are important for self regulation of forest ecosystems. It allows for nitrogen to be released back in to the cycle and give different species chances to survive. Approximately two hours later, we reached the Sawtooth National Recreation Area which was filled with many bodies of water. The Sawtooth Mountains were quiet obviously named because of their resemblance to saw teeth. We made a stop at a smaller lake which had beautiful clear, cool, and crisp water.

Before getting on the car we had to check for ticks because in order to reach the lake from the road we needed to walk through tall grasses. Then we continued on the road to get to the visitor center. My father quickly connected to the Wi-Fi to work. The museum was pretty cool inside of the visitor center. After utilizing the facilities our family loaded the car and went to Sawtooth National Recreation Area's main lake. The water was very cool and crisp like the other lake except it was much bigger. There were people boating and dogs playing in the water as well. My brother couldn't resist playing in the water so he just went in with his clothes on. I was reluctant to even put my feet in because it felt cold and the lake bottom was very rocky. I was playing with my Lifeproof Case in the water and attempted taking pictures of my brother's feet underwater. It didn't really work out because I was too far away and I wasn't looking at where I was aiming.

After leaving the recreation area, we continued toward Boise, Idaho. However on the way we stopped at a vista point to see a canyon off of the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway. At first I believed I saw a whirlpool, but I later found out it was just a boat pulling tubes.

After this quick stop, we made it to Boise. Many places were closed so we just chose a Pho place. It smelled horrid except the food was wonderful. After dinner we went to downtown to see Boise. The capitol building looked similar to the one of Utah's except it was much uglier. My sister and I quickly became interested in the local record shop and knew that was where we were going. We went back to the Hyatt and retired for the day after.
